We were stacked on the sofa like kindling Limbs intertwined We were one entity And peace of mind was present Then and there You could feel it in the air Such a fragile thing This state of grace Sunlight filtered through lace Your smiling face Was once the case Fell out of grace It's a fleeting thing Not easily sustained That particular effervescence A flash of recognition This close to perfection My head on your chest meant All's right with the world Sleeping on this giant rib cage Rhythmic breathing x 2 Hearts beating I knew This was one of life's perfect moments And that's really all any of us can hope for Moments of beauty to sustain us Through it all
