We are merely dust and earth
Embodied by skin, Defined by thought.
We touch not to feel,
Rather, To be felt
Reassuring ourselves
Of our own mortality.
We cannot escape death, Nor
The madness knowing the inevitable brings.
We are the blind leading the blind, And
Those of us who can see
Peer into darkness, Because
Life brings no clarity to tainted eyes,
And faith, no comfort to the untamed mind.
