Ballad of a dog

Ive watched destiny carve its path, In the dark, On the face of a nation, Im a lonely scholar off the streets, A hero, a Spartacus unknown to the world, I am but just another stray dog, Another mongrel among the bog, Another dead cold stone on the road, Who can hear the ballad amidst my bark? Of impending affairs, The sands of time, the vanishing air, The millers wheel may roll into the next millennium, But you will always find me searching doorsteps and trashcans, For stale left overs and perhaps a little love, A little luck from the Big Guy above, Drinking water form dirty puddles, YesIm just another lost dog, Born only to question, The motive following my inception, I am paltry to your eyes, As I watch the cars pass me by, No one knows about the why in my eye, Wishing I also had a destination, Onward o brave comrade! Onward. But a car runs over this wannabe poet, And that is THE END Of this silent scholar around the bend; Of the road.
