Want to be me?

Contributed by Disenchanted_Poet on Wednesday, 28th January 2004 @ 09:27:54 AM in AEST
Topic: StoryPoetry

Do you want to watch?
Do you want to see me wither into a shroud of
Depression that can not be matched
By even that of a voided soul.

Do you want to hear?
Hear me scream in pain for my
Sorrows and wrongdoings that
Bring me to my knees.

Do you want to feel?
Feel the burning of my heart
That is so far gone that a kind
Touch can not compel it to shine.

Do you want to smell?
Smell my fears of an overrun
Nation of those who made
And stomp on those who do not bow to them.

Do you want to be me?

Do you feel the anguish
As the words leap from the page?
Into your eyes, into your mind,
Breaking through its ivory cage.

Do you hear the tortured screams
As they seep from each pen stroke?
The calls of pain and hatred,
Of loneliness never spoke.

Do you feel the flame
Of madness in the ink?
An inferno against your skin,
As further in, you sink.

Do you know you're here for good
As the words engulf your form?
Now you feel as I did
When I wrote this poem.

Do you still want to be me?
