Beaten down to the ground
Told Im not good enough
Opened myself up to you
Pain was all you gave in return
I have longed for your touch
Though I have never seen you
I have longed to hear you laugh
Though I have never talked to you
Its not your looks I am attracted to
Its your whole attitude and style
Always a kind word for those around
Always sticking up for those who are down
I knew in the beginning we could never be
The miles were too far between
Only thru poetry would you be mine
But a girl is allowed to dream
Somehow I got the courage to confess
I laid my heart on the line
Thought you would at least understand
Someone thought you were special
The response you gave came at a surprise
You were not cruel by any means
But the doubt you show yourself
Rubbed off onto me
