Adara's Tale

Contributed by Angelic_Demon on Friday, 30th January 2004 @ 11:00:49 PM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

Thousand year's curse,
Thrown upon myself unwillingly
At the hands of a man that
Hunts my sister constantly.

She fights for her life,
I fight for mine.
She's hunted, yet I find
That we must also hunt.

We depend on blood,
Cursed with what is thought
To be immortality.
Yet I wonder, what is immortality?

Is it just being cursed with a curse
That demands feeding on blood?
A curse, that if fatally wounded,
Can be broken and grant thee thy long anticipated death?

Or... does immortality not exist?
I hear that it grants one the ability to live forever.
What is forever? The never ending life until the world ends?
Or thousands of years of changing your name,
Avoiding making strong bonds with mortals, and running so that you don't get killed?

I laugh when I think about it.
If you have to run your entire "immortal" life to avoid getting killed,
Then immortality is just a myth.
Just a crock of bull made up by silly dreaming mortals.

For you see, everything is mortal.
I think that immortality will never exist.
Being a vampire is just a curse that
Makes one's life a living nightmare.

I never wanted to become a vampire,
Yet I don't see myself ever welcoming
That long awaited death.
I guess that you could say that I'm afraid of it.

wonderful story telling in this poem - well written my dear
the vampires are cursed poor creatures
not of this world and not of the next
and yet they are so intriguing don't you think?

hugs
