I'm ugly inside
I hurt so much that I bleed it away
I wish I could hide
In the shadows is where I wanna stay
I'm not what you need
The girl I am now is not who you loved
But this is my creed
You can push me but I will not be shoved
Please tell me it doesn't matter
The scars on my arm
Echo the scars in my heart
I wish you still loved me as much
The look on my face
Is how it looks from this place
Please tell me you won't let me go
What I ask of you
Is all I need to get through
I wish you'd just be here with me
Because in your arms
Is where I'm free from all harm
I'm losing this fight
I can't feel solid ground under my feet
It might be alright
But the love we share is so bittersweet
If only you knew
How I feel and understood what I need
Maybe you'd see through
All the anger to the pain that misleads
Please tell me it doesn't matter
How I live my life
The seduction of the knife
Please don't give up on me just yet
'Cause I'm still learning
My strength is still returning
Please have a little faith in me
To do things my way
And maybe meet you halfway
Please help me if I need you to
And if it breaks me
Please look hard enough to see
I need understanding
You're too demanding
Gentleness and caring
There's too much swearing
Some romance and respect
All that you reject
I need what I'm made of
That's the way I love
