Pretenders

Contributed by stalkee on Sunday, 1st February 2004 @ 10:07:19 PM in AEST
Topic: ChristianPoetry

You say you're living your life for Him,
but still you can't seperate yourself from them
I know you have ears, I know you have eyes
So why must you go on with all your lies?
I guess you're just trying to fit in,
and that is what is your sin

You hide behind a mask saying you do,
every little thing you claim is true
How long can I listen to your lies?
And how long before I can sigh,
'cause you will finally feel,
and live everything that is real

Surrender your heart and surrender your mind
and humble yourself, He'll exalt you in time
How long are you gonna be a hypocrite?
How long are you gonna be able to sit
with yourself, knowing all that you say is empty?
Recognize your living in the dark and be set free

Really a good theme. I've thought this way of a lot of people. Those who call themselves religious but live in sin. Great poem.

A lot of Christians become like that because they see the hypocrisy in their own church. I did a few years ago and now I'm pretty disillusioned by Christianity, even though I still am a beliver in God and Jesus. Stay strong and be an example to others.
