Maybe I can't beat it.
Maybe I'm not meant to.
This seems my lot in life;
so what else is there for me to do?
Do I even want to leave this behind,
just relegated to my past?
Do I even want to search
for a peace in life that might last?
The process, it takes so long,
it's filled with so much pain.
Dear God! In quitting this
I can't see what I might gain!
It's in my head, sunk into my viens,
and contorted my muscles too.
It's ever present everywhere,
there's nothing I can do.
Dear God! No one on earth can help.
It's too cold. I'm too alone here.
Can you make it go away?
Can you hold me and calm my fear?
Can you keep the world at bay?
Please God,
just keep the world at bay!
