The pain slashes through me
Like a million little knives
Each one cuts off a little piece of my soul
A piece that can never be replaced
I feel searing sadness
And white hot anger
Complete desolation
And burning regret
All the things I could have done
Could I have changed anything?
Would anything have helped?
Questions that will run through my mind forever
Questions that will never be answered
I gather the shattered remains of my soul
Piece them together the best I can
Hope it's enough
Enough to get me through
Through each minute
Through each hour
Through each day
Until eventually the cracks in me crumble
And all that's left are shards
Shards of who I was
Shards of who I wanted to be
Shards of me
Until finally, I fall into darkness
