She Said

He sits in his thoughts
Shadowed by her face
And those words that she said
Words he never expected
From someone he loved
He longed for her face once more
Her wisdom to touch his heart
And now he sits here afraid, alone

Playing on those words
That keep circling in his head
Yet he knew her meaning was right
The truth by no means
But why like this?
Why now?
Why this night?
“You’ll always be in my heart” she said
