Forgiveness or no?
Its a touchy subject
Can it be let go?
Whatever your conflict
With trauma at an early age
You dont grow as you should
You may be stuck at some stage
Never seeing yourself as good
Conflict seen through a childs eye
Is frightening at best
No matter how hard you try
You cant seem to find rest
If you know that youre trapped
Calm yourself and look about
Within yourself youre wrapped
You need to find your way out
Give the child a break
The one trapped within
For your sanitys sake
Forgive your sin
A child doesnt react
As an adult should
Recognize that fact
Release the guilt of childhood
With the release
Youll find some rest
The cycle will surcease
The shame youll no longer wrest
When you read this
Look at it closely
I hope the truth youll not miss
Experience the epiphany

I feel like I struggle with this all the time; trying to move beyond some of the painful experiences of my childhood. But it gets better! And it is poems like these that remind us to keep our heads held high and hope for the future.
