scarecrow

Contributed by Cancer on Sunday, 8th February 2004 @ 02:44:30 AM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

made of straw
so easy to burn
when anger finally sparks

made of straw
i can't fight back
only flail in the wind
and slowly dissolve

my face carved
from a hollow log
these empty eyes
are lifelong lies
for, though i may seem
so empty inside
there's more here
than i can ever expel

crows of hate
raze the fields of forgiveness
that i cannot protect
and those crows might as well be made of flame
for they bring the rage
and i'm burning again

there's no release
so the flames won't cease
so used to the rage
it becomes my peace
this hatred is my happiness
it's all i've ever known
made of straw
so easy i burn
hung on this cross
just a scarecrow

(beneath this straw
there is no heart
i fed it to the crows)

I'm not sure what impresses me more, your stellar writing or your amazing themes. Of course, this has the best of both!

Truly,

The imagery in this was amazing. I loved it all nothing was lacking in this. A terrific, somewhat dark write all the way through.
