Her new born baby's cry
Is a sound I've never heard
I've never looked into its eyes
My arms have never held her
But I'm asked if I still love
The person I once knew
And as sure as God is above
I know that I still do
I've tried to let her go
Tried to get her out of my heart
But she occupies my soul
And it's tearing me apart
Thru my tears I see
The bridges that I've burned
I can hear her calling to me
Telling me she cannot return
I wonder if she can see my tears
As they fall to the ground
It's not even been a year
But it seems like forever somehow
And though I miss her so much
I think I'll survive
For even as I long for her touch
She'll never come back into my life.

She knows that you care. And at least you cared enough to try. The pain will ease in time... even though the scars will be there. *hug*
