Took so long to find love's meaning
but you stood strong by my side.
You never once complained nor
doubted that someday I'd get it right.
In my confussion life took its toll,
things happened that ripped through my soul.
Now standing here with tears in my heart
longing to give love its freedom;
gotta say, tough love cuts
deep but finally got it's meaning.
Tough love leaves alot to be desired,
still burning like an eternal fire.
Yes, everything inside wishes I could
have gotten it right long ago.
This love will ever be the
strength inside my imortal soul.
Still the pain inside remains
but only have myself to blame.

Even it is tinged with sadness of life..
it is a very good poem..and these lines
are very nice:
"deep but finally got it's meaning.
Tough love leaves alot to be desired,
still burning like an eternal fire."

| Oh Lord, do I feel this poem. I am 56 y/o and still haven't found that one true love. Maybe I expect too much, but whatever it is I keep getting something wrong. I never give up though, I have just put it into the hands of my spirits and they will bring him to me if it is meant to be. Love can be tough, just as life can. You are quite a powerful writer, Emy.
