I put down the phone. Then sit and think. What was meant when you said those things?
For the first time tonight, I heard compassion in your voice. Felt emotions that hadn't been there before.
You told me that you would do anything for me. That you would give everything up. Just to be with me.
I wonder if this was just another line to hear. Or if you actually meant it, unlike the rest.
When it came time to say good bye,
I heard remorse of things not said. I heard remorse of things not done.
But what you don't see tonight is that I heard them all the time.
All the things you meant to say. All of what you meant to do.
It was all there. I felt it.
So I call you back the morning after, To see what you were up to.
Again you tried so hard to expalin. But now I quiet you with a single word.
Yes.
