how many take time to ponder
the wondrous gift with which we've been blessed,
i look to the heavens and stare with wonder
and praise God as i lie down to rest
thank you for my ears
revealing the songs of life all around,
and thank you for my tears
that fall and bring life to dry ground
thank you for my nose
capturing the fragrance of roses in the rain,
and thank you for my toes
burrowing deep into the grassy plain
thank you for my eyes
which feast on the glory of all you've created,
and thank you for my sighs
expressing in a breath what my heart has stated
thank you for my lips
which praise your name throughout the day,
and thank you for my trips
through the dreams where i wish i could stay
but most of all i thank you for you
and everything you are
your strength, your patience, your beauty, and grace
your peace, your mercy, your wisdom, and love
how wonderful you are to see
reflected though shadowy and incomplete
in measly little me
