If I Could Take the Pain Away
February 18, 2004
The gloss in your eyes,
Is the pain I feel inside.
I cannot cry for you,
Take your tears and make them mine.
If I could, I would,
And I could take shelter in my room,
And cry the tears that would have been brought upon you.
For no person as sweet as you,
Should cry a single tear,
Nor feel the way you do.
The flinch in your step,
Is the pain I have kept.
I cannot take that upon myself,
Transfer the pain from you to I.
If I could, I would,
And count the beatings of my heart,
And feel the blood that would been brought upon you.
For no person as generous as you,
Should feel a single pain,
Nor look the way you do.
The caution in your eyes,
Is the fear I hold inside.
I cannot take the trip for you,
And fall the drop I see.
If I could, I would,
And tend to mend the hurt Id feel,
And feel the burn that would have been brought upon you.
For no person as sacred as you,
Should know a single hurt,
Nor wait the way you do.
The hesitation in your step,
Is the wariness I have kept.
I cannot make the end come near,
And bring this to a long waited stop.
If I could, I would,
And bring a happily-ever-after,
And smile with you when its finally over.
For no friend as great as you,
Should conceive of the truth,
And frown as you do.
