shes up at dawn dresses then wonders around the house someone will be getting up soon she just doesnt know who the animals begin to move around her some sit at her feet she smiles at them reaches down and says hello to each one she is but a shadow of herself
i wing it out to the living room and watch the show two are dainty two demanding males one is like a queen and of course my bad boy always a tease always in trouble and the dog lays behind as if presenting her brood she is but a shadow of herself
she doesnt remember how to fix herself anything to eat she doesnt remember the order things are to dress herself her pride and joy crochetint is now a mystery to her she still tries to be her independant self what a disaster she is but a shadow of herself
i know the day will come when i must say goodbye to her but im not quite ready for that just yet in time not now i want to still get up to her greeting all my babies yet babies one by one with princess leah looking on smilling she is but a shadow of herself

Great write, sounds like you know or love some one with Alzheimer's disease. My mother is the leader for the alzheimer's support group in our surrounding areas. such a sad and terrible thing to see the person you love every day dwendling away from who they use to be. My thoughts and prayers are with you. |
