For all the Pain

Contributed by outdoorsman on Tuesday, 24th February 2004 @ 07:51:32 AM in AEST
Topic: Tributes

The blood of this day
will stain the hands of us all
we will not soon forget our anger
for even God himself allows it to be this way
vengeance itself is even ours to harness

As we tread this new time
may we greet our scars again
and make ready our hearts
to wage war against the stinging reality

Death will come to gather us all
so smile at this adventure
and welcome his double-edged tragedy
for as beauty falls, new beauty soon arrives
all as it should be

We will fall short
but to the blood of this day
shall you never look away
lest the same spill grace your own neck
and you'd be surprised to cross the river

When you wash your hands
scub carefully but so intentionally
that you would rid the blindness
but polish the stains
never forget

Very good! I'm not sure I even understand all of it, but no matter. I like the paradox. Very thoughtful. Keep writing!
