The Cure

Contributed by dingoku on Tuesday, 10th September 2002 @ 06:53:21 AM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

thousands of needles struggle desperately
to pierce the dry breath of a whisper
that is my fragile thirsty soul

vengefully they strike from the shadows
attempting to inject me
and infect me with their deadly poison

they know all my soft spots
all my weak points

relentlessly they ravage them
over and over
ravenously waiting for the barriers to evaporate

the tiniest prick of their dripping fangs
causes unfathomable pain and suffering

if left unchecked and uncured
will force me to relive the last few moments of this gruesome death
for all of eternity

for so long i have tried to fight these needles
alone

but they never fail
to overwhelm me
and consume me

my only guard
my only cure
is this crystal pool of the purest water

Living Water
dripping down the trunk of an overlooking tree
where lies nailed and hanging limp
a little Lamb

breathing deep
i fill my lungs with this sweet nectar

i let it envelop my soul
like a warm blanket
on an icy winter day

once just a dry breath
now a glistening diamond

reflecting the soothing Light
brighter than the brightest star
at its center

where the Water runs still

This is very good, well done.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
