Camouflage

Topic: DarkPoetry

**********************************
crystal chandelier shaking violent
rattling bones of death
lunging at thin air
two legged beast
booming bellowing
anti-Christ appears
at the top of the stairs
with wild hair and black eyes
cannot be banished
can never be left behind
spewing the veritable
flames of hell's breath
harsh reality of growing up
drowning in alcohol
there is no shore
no safety, no place to hide
be quiet she says
whispering
in ragged pajamas
drafty hallways
near the door
always ready to run
alert as two fawns
pawing at the ground, wide eyed
survival instincts
blend into our surroundings
stillness

I admire you Gaille, not only as a writer, but as a person. To overcome this childhood to be the person you have become shows great courage and character. Outstanding emotional write my friend.

(((Gaille))) how awful for you to have grown up like this ... an extremely heartwrenching write ... and an excellent portrayal of how alcoholism has such an affect on children ... well done ... Jan

My father use to drink but he gave it up when I was very young.....
I was once married to an alcholic once upon a time.......The sweetest thing to my ears was when he finally drank himself to oblivion and passed out......Oh such, sweet sound.
U are a winner as U survived it.....
Great write!
It definently brings back memories but they r jus that now, memories.
luv, huggs,
emy
