Canopies shade the cool ocean forest
Where water is dry and earth is cold
Where fire burns always yet doesn't burn at all
And people can't hear what they're told
Searing eyes yet through the stony streams
Of blood and life and dreams
Courting a mistress behind a veil
Of mystery and tragedy, doomed to fail
Flaunting her worth, the mistress does claim
To be all that the people say
Beautiful, brilliant, a blend of perfection
But behind her veil, who can say?
Lift the veil! the searing eyes yell
As she runs from their piercing gaze
They chase her, catch her, hold her still
She is caught, in a trance, in a daze
Her soul is revealed, bright in its purity
And the eyes see her in new light
She tried to run, she tried to hide
But now she puts up no fight
And as the eyes stare, the two souls merge
Become one, innocent and bright
Secrets are revealed, desires unveiled
And two become one in the night
