If birthdays were ageless as a leap year,
Then sixty four is sweet sixteen,
On the day of this poems childhood birth,
Its youth will hold, and never wean.
And let eyes that read this on this birthday,
Let these words speak with timeless truth,
At one hundred-- the age of twenty five,
This leap year holds nothing but truth.
If it lives until two hundred fifty,
Its millennium untruthful,
And age slowly leaps away with leap years,
Are those deathly leap years youthful?
