Foot Prints in the Sand

Contributed by Elizabeth_Dandy on Tuesday, 2nd March 2004 @ 08:14:15 AM in AEST
Topic: InspirationalPoems

A man had had a vivid dream
He walked along a strand,
He, and the Lord who walked with him,-
Four footprints in the sand.

Two sets of footprints in the sand
There were upon the beach
As they walked slowly, hand in hand,
One set of prints for each

When he reviewed the scenery
He could not but perceive
The second set could not be seen
In his times of pain and grief

Did you abandon me dear Lord
When I did need you so!
When I had need for your support
In times of grief and woe?

You Lord had promised unto me
That you would never leave,
Did leave me in adversity
While I was steeped in grief.

One set of foot prints - lo! was gone
And could be seen no more,
You left me, let me all alone
To walk in grief the shore

To this complaint the Lord replied:
“Foot prints you saw but two,
For when in loss and pain you cried
Dear child I carried you.

Dear ED how are you dear?
This has always been one of my favorite poems....you compliment it lovingly, and I really enjoyed myself with you in the sand!
Has Spring come to New York yet?
You've had your fair share of snow that's for sure!
love you
