Of Trumpets and Lyres

Contributed by MrMojoRisin on Saturday, 6th March 2004 @ 02:11:32 AM in AEST
Topic: Suicide

Rain pours from gray skies
Pitter-patter on my hood
The windows have fogged up
And I cant see anymore
The road Im waiting on.
Im on my journey
To the Brave New World.
A self guided flight
From all of my problems.
No map can help me
Find my way anymore
The stars and the moon
Can no longer guide me.
I know where Im going
And hate where I?ve been
Now I am holding
A one way ticket home.
I look down beside me
And in the passenger seat
Is the girl I still love
Lying cold in her blood.
When life got troublesome
I removed some troubles
Itll be better for her
When we both are together.
She was so lovely
Heavenly and perfect for me
Like a majestic butterfly.
And can you tell me why
I shoot down butterflies
With a machine gun?
Why everything I do?
Amounts to pure nothing
Nothing. So empty a word
Vast as the universe
Endless as space, infinity.
As I blunder through this
Thing known as life
Is anyone out there
Who will end it all now?
No, no one can do that.
And no one will do that.
And I admire you for that.
And I thank you for that.
My life is my own.
No, that car is too small
And that one too slow
A sight of redemption
My salvation is waiting
A Mack truck approaches
Eighteen wheels of fury
At full speed ahead
It reaches the intersection
My pedal to the metal
Tonight is my time to go.
The last thing I see are
Glaring lights, angels perhaps?
And the last thing I hear is
A brassy hum in my ears
Of trumpets and lyres?
And the last thing I feel
Is my heart, is my heart
Slowly beating
Slowly beating
Stopping
Stopping.
