THE "GREAT" GAME

Contributed by steeleyes on Monday, 8th March 2004 @ 08:34:00 AM in AEST
Topic: political

They call it the great game
The dominance of the world by the powerful
It stems from an arrogance so ugly, so awful

O/

We have 50% of the worlds wealth but only 6.3% of its population. In this situation, our real job in the coming period is to maintain this position of disparity. To do so, we have to dispense with all sentimentality we should cease thinking about human rights, the raising of living standards and democratisation.'

George Kennan, U.S. strategic planner, 1948

O/

What kind of a government
do impoverished people vote for?
Those that support the rich elites?
Or those who redistribute to the poor?

Does this answer why the great U.S.A.
Is always undermining these people?
Does this tell you why when they say Democracy!
They lie?

Look at Haiti. Look at Venezuala soon.
'Governments sharing wealth with the poor!?
We cant have this! Our rich backers will scream!
Fund some death squads, arrange for torture!'

Create a groundswell of anger
Fabricate some facts
Get the CIA in there and active
Do the usual dirty acts

This great game brings such awful pain
While the elites move their chessboard pieces
Those who have little will have that taken away
As only their suffering increases

O/

There are others saying we are already in a fascist sort of mode; if you say something often enough, the people will begin to believe it. And that strategy has been applied with great success by this administration weapons of mass destruction, al Qaeda-Iraq ties...other evidence being produced to justify an unprovoked war. And so I think we all ought to be worried about fascism.

Ray McGovern, former CIA analyst
