When the Poetry don't come When images are vacant Skulls whitened by disuse and decay And words leaden kites.
What is a poet to do but stagger Through the halls of his discontent Flirting with a lost love, a road,, an opportunity missed, a sell out..
Kicking and rumaging thru the debris Looking for signs of a golden age Searching the wreckage for a promise, sure and certain, of better days to come
But, there are no better days that this -- No halcyon times before or beyond, There are none more bitter than this day. There is this now and none other.
