Tonight... I just can't believe it...
I just can't believe what has transpired...
My "adopted" niece just called me Aunt Don Don
She says that she has called me this once before
But for the life of me...
I can't remember when that was...
What matters to my heart...
What makes me feel so happy...
What makes me feel so proud...
So accepted in her life...
Is that she would feel so compelled
To claim me as her aunt...
Her Aunt Don Don
I'll be wearing this grin from ear to ear
For a long time to come...
'Cause she doesn't know...
Truly could never fathom...
Just how she's made me feel
With her love for me that so genuinely real
She most certainly has MADE MY DAY!
What matters to the heart...
Is a hug... a touch... a kiss... a smile
What matters to the heart...
Is an "I love You" every once- in- awhile
What matters to the heart...
Is the pain she's walking through
What matters to the heart...
Is that I'm right there walking beside her... if she wants and needs me too
What matters to heart...
Is the love that she shows
What matters most to my heart...
Is that love can grow and grow
And as I sit here and stare at her picture
The more love grows in my heart for her
The more I stare into those amazingly beautiful eyes...
The more I see...
Her love smiling back at me
And all that matters to this heart of mine...
At this very moment in time...
Is the love that I can give to her always and forever that will endure...
And what matters most to the heart...
Is... that I love you...

Donna, this is so beautiful. The love shines from it. They just don't ever realize, it seems, how much they do matter to us, no matter how much we tell them or try to show them. Your heartlight was on high beam with this one. Good work.
