The nightmares continue, I have no control
I guess I was right when I said I'd pay the toll
I thought when I left the hurting would stop
But I was wrong and he still remains on top
Remembering the abuse brings back so much
I should've been better, I should've been tough
And I keep fighting but he still wins
The vicous cycle still continues to spin
The tears are gone but blood remains
And everyday I scream in silent vain
Three years with him is enough for life
As I sit in my room and hold my knife
My greatest mistake has become my greatest fight
I'll slit my throat before I let him take another night....

this was so sad I'm surprised no one else has commented on this. I liked the 2nd to last line it summed up the poem perfectly.
