There is no wind.
There is nothing but cold.
The morning seems so bleak. The seemingly colorless sky...
I am reminded of how my life is such a mess. As I walk, I pass the rich peoples' neat and tidy homes And I see what a facade their clean-cut lawns are setting up Just to mask the more challenging situations that irk them in the least.
I then acquire a kind of mild hatred for the way I wore my hair and makeup today. In disbelief, I allow myself to see how I've conformed to society. I unwillingly force myself to recognize the hypocracy that is me.
Wonderful! Another quaint attribute to my complicated and frustrating life. Although I see the things that make my life so agitating I recall all of the rest... Reminiscing of the past month or so...
And to think, I am my ideal identity now. Ironic and peculiar that these thoughts of utter distaste for myself Come so freely as I continue to point out the blessings that I can count. I seem to contradict my brain and my heart or my soul. Though where exactly in my brain, heart, soul... I do not know....

I know what you're talking about. Why is it that modern life is so unfulfilling to real human beings?
Take care now.

Frustrating isn't it? how we eventually conform to society whether we want to or not, but they can't get your mind!
excellent poem by the way.

I don't think humans are ever satisified. We work so hard to get some specific place in our lives and then when we attain our goal it is not what we wanted in the first place. Maybe it is that challenge alone that keeps us going. How sad that there might be even a grain of truth to that. I do think you should find another title. I almost did not read this because of your title. Good write though.

Oh, how you take me back. I could follow you through all those feelings all over again. I remember writing poetry on my own bus rides. So much time we long for just to think and then when time is abundant we only want it to flee. It's like crying that no one calls you and then complaining the phone rings too much. Like Andrew said. Intriguing write.

Don't conform!!! No! No! No! It's very bad for you. In conforming you hide your heart behind a mask. Don't be what other people want you to be. In a way, be what they need you to be: yourself. Clint Eastwood said "There's a rebel deep inside my soul. Anytime anybody tells me the trend is such and such, I go in the opposite direction." I love that quote.
Take care. Be you.

I understand those days... one where you realize your wearing little more than a mask as you acquire what you wanted yourself to be- and you find you hate yourself because of that mask and you just should have been yourself. Good poem. I throroughly enjoyed the fact it was written in prose style- my personal favorite. |
