Reflecting half-truths You hang in judgement; Silently mocking As if you can see inside
You allow her the painful paradox Of looking herself in the eye. You exist only to show her The error of her movements.
Some days you are merciful; Many, you are not, but She is your slave, and Will always return.
She does not yet realize The power to escape you Lies within her. If only she could look away.

I really liked this alot ...it has alot of mystery to it and that is what is great about poems...the fact that people can take it at face value or they can read between the lines...
thanks for sharing

This poem captures the experience of everywoman - giving over to the power of image - standing alone in front of a mirror, hoping a little each time, that something or someone different might appear. This piece is powerful - too often have I stood trial before myself, passing judgement, seeking to define/redefine myself through image. You have an amazing ability to write not only from within your own soul, but from within the soul of others. Beautiful.
