Why do we HURT each other?
Why do we BREAK each other's hearts
With the things we SAY and DO
I have not a CLUE... how about YOU?
Is it a BASIC INSTINCT of LIFE
To HURT the ones you LOVE the most and never THINK twice?
Are we just ACTING out from the PAIN and RAGE in our own LIVES?
Do we not know WRONG from RIGHT?
Have we not been TAUGHT to RESPECT life?
Have we NO MERCY or SHAME?
Think about it... in the end... who so we have to BLAME?
We know not what we do to OTHERS with our WORDS of HURT
Or our SILENCES that endure?
I speak from EXPERIENCE, my friends...
People have HURT ME time and again
There have been times when I'VE been so UNWILLING to FORGIVE
Then I REALIZED, in GOD'S EYES, this makes me NO BETTER than them
Life CUTS both ways... leaving wounds that are TOO DEEP
My heart WEEPS... for I find not RELIEF or the ANSWER I SEEK
To the basic question... WHY DO WE HURT EACH OTHER?

| It was an excellent poem. Dragged me into realising that I can truly relate to this. The capital words gave it a vibe. It was a poem I definately can relate to and I liked it. best of luck to finding the answer to your question. If you do find a reasonable answer let me know won't ya. Cause I have been there many times before and still my eyes are not fully opened. Great poem all the way. |

I must admit with the other replies, that this is an excellent poem. I have an unclear answer for the question, though we are all different so it may not apply to others. I just think that we will continue hurting one another until we can actually find that one true love.
All these pain and suffering and everything that has to do with "love" all fades away and the only thing left is happiness between 2 persons when they actually love eachother.
That's the way i think of it, sorry if it doesn't make sense or does not apply to some people, English isn't my first language. |

hey my poetry daughter,
U have posed a great question here.
there are maney reason but the reasons why hurt the ones were closest to isn't 'cause we plan it that way but some jus take advatage on ones good nature.
U wouldn't believe this by knowing me now but when I was much younger I divorced my kids father as he was a trucker and I caught up with him cheating. I was hurt to the core.
Guess what I started dating married truckers to get even. Most of um was married.
I realized one day I was hurting their innocent families in my anger over my ex .
Oneday I realized what I was doing and changed my life.....Subconsciencelly I was doing this but once it bubbled up in my conscience mind I repented......What goes around comes around. Here I am nearly thirty years later having dealt with my consequenses of my actions. I held onto God and when it started comming back around to me I umbeld before God and acepted his forgiveines then the hard part was 4-giving myself.
the moral of all this is that uselayy there's many underlieing reasons.
Anyhow thank God for mercy and grace.

| Very powerful and I can soooo relate to this. I've been teased all my life. It hurts so much. People don't know how much, unless they are the one being hurt. |

| Your talent is impossible to measure. I loved this. I think everyone knows the answer to this question, but nobody knows how to say it out loud. Maybe the answer is too hard to put into words, maybe it's too painful to say, or even to believe. I truly believe this because I cannot say the answer myself |

yes why I agree but I don't have the answer either.
But your write is so well written...
I don't think us humans will ever be perfect but it is so painful when your hurt...

you need not another comment on this one i know. things i could tell you have already been said
but this truly is a great write. I think we all ask that question but never find the answer.

um ill tell u its cuz we feel like it
its cuz we want more
greener pastures is wat were always going for
and u no wat life is short so ***** pain and have some fun
if a guy hurts u go out get drunk and party liek theres no tomrow
and god doesnt give a crap u need passion to sustain life
compassion and pain is what love comes from
so it other words no offense great work but suck it up and f*ckin get over it and live life liek non other |
