Storm Clouds

Contributed by puppy_dog_eyes on Friday, 19th March 2004 @ 06:15:00 PM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

The sun is shining, warmth pours down my spine
But my eyes see only storm clouds
Black mood on a summer day
Wishing rain would cleanse my spirit
Is this a ghost of me I see in the mirror ?
Pale, without a smile to cast to the world
Tomorrow wears the same coat as today
A positive mood has faded into yesterday
I look upon the future with its face so cold and grey
This daunting dark mountain of the unknown
Would that I was able I would turn back the hours
Take flight to the safety of the meadows of the past
Chase the rainbow back to the fields of innocence
Bathe in the waters of long forgotten dreams
Sleep is comfort, a fortress against despair
Though sanctuary too fleeting
Too soon I awake, once more to ride out
In early morning, through the mist of my mind
To face again my storm clouds

I like it all... alot; but that line, tomorrow wears the same coat as today...I really like that and think it's really inventive. I should steal it LOL.

A fabulous poem! Every line is my favorite. I was going to welcome you to the downers club but it looks like you are making it okay! Well its a place to wallow for awhile when you need to. *Note--I do it randomly! But seriously this was an excellent poem and I commend you on it. Kie

I know the feeling. This was great and the flow as well.
Your poems are always a great read.
I sincerely mean that!
