The little boy looked hard at the faded photographs, snapped and framed behind plastic for all to see, and he wondered why there were people he did not know; his grandfather paused a moment from his busy day, laying to the side all those things that for most became the rituals of living and loving . He remembered anecdotes to many moments framed inside his wife's treasure windows, as he called them. He told of parties, and fishing trips and the one that got away. He told of dear friends who would never again come over to pass the time of day. The little boy, eyes bright and shining, saw his grandfather no older than he standing proud as someone close captured a moment to treasure with a wagon and a brother; He would never know them but they were part of a tree that grew; the one with wide open branches that spread a welcome to him, and he fancied an old pine tree or solid oak; his family would last forever .
