Need

Great friends are hard to come by,
Yet I’ve found some of the,
Best!
I must be lucky or need,
You guys more then I
First thought!
If it is the latter one then,
Maybe I do need help, but I’m still here
Aren’t I?
You all have helped me through,
Hard times!
Maybe I need to help myself now.
Instead being so dependant on,
You!
This may sound harsh or that I’m
Ungrateful!
But I’m sorry if that is how it
Sounds!
I’m so thankful that you have managed to keep,
Me in this cruel world,
As I need you as much as you,
Need me!

I WILL ADMIT THAT WITH SOME OF YOUR POETRY I WOULD OPEN IT, AND WINCE A LITTLE AT THE PAIN OR ANGUISH I FELT THERE AND DUCK BACK OUT WITHOUT READING THE WHOLE THING. COWARDLY, I KNOW, HAVE BEEN SHOT AT ON COUNTLESS OCCASIONS AND DIDN'T FLINCH, BUT CONFRONTING THE PAIN OF SOMEONE I ACTUALLY KNEW AND LIKED, I TUCKED MY TAIL BETWEEN MY LEGS AND RAN. FINALLY I DECIDED I MAY BE MISSING SOMETHING BY DOING THAT. SO HAVE GONE BACK TO SOME OF THOSE AND LOOKED AGAIN. I CAN'T WRITE POETRY SO I ENJOY THE SURPRISES, TURNS OF PHRASE, THE QUESTIONS I FIND IN THE POEMS OF THOSE THAT CAN WRITE. ...... ANYWAY THIS IS ONE I DUCKED OUT OF THE FIRST TIME...... AFTER READING IT SEVERAL TIMES I THOUGHT "THIS IS NOT SAD OR PAINFUL;" NO THIS IS ACTUALLY TRIUMPHANT. FIRST HALF IS A CELEBRATION OF FRIENDS, SECOND HALF IS SAYING I AM CAPABLE OF WALKING THIS PATH WITHOUT SOMEONE HOLDING ME UP. FELT BETTER HAVING READ IT. BOB

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
