I wish you'd stop hurting me
I understand that you think it's not directly
But it cuts deeply like the sharpest blade
And inevitably makes my entire world fade.
Yet again I find myself standing alone
Fighting against the bitter cold
Listening to the harsh winds moan
Watching the earth's stories unfold.
I know you couldn't possibly realize
What ends up keeping me alive
But it's knowing that I mean more
Than I could even dream to hope for.
And if I stayed here forever
Wishing you were here
Would our tie finally sever
And would you even shed a tear?
But countless times I've heard you cry
Sometimes it only makes me want to die
It's my fault, I'm the one to blame
Those words echo like Life's twisted game.
Uncertainty quickly changes the air
I can feel it swirling and turning away
It tells me in whispers you're not there
That you never wanted me to stay.
This only makes me thing one thing
And I can't bear its deadly sting -
I will never amount to much
And I will never be good enough.
