The Finale

Swiftly dashing on the stage All colors and emotion, Leaps and bounds to amaze the crowd, And to cause a commotion. Applause and whistles fill the air As your feet softly touch the ground, But your smile is only for me, Sitting in the back of the crowd.
I'm holding your family's camcorder, Taping your every move, Watch as you dance with your partner, Watching as you hang the moon. I tape every single thing, Every breath you take, But ironically at the end, That's not what made my hands shake.
It was you, flying through the air That caused my pulse to race, As you leaped and turned With such a pure and simple grace. You were dancing for me that night, But all good things must end, Because just months from that finale You are now just a friend.
