Shooting stars
promising light
then dying leaving intense endless blackness
There is no sun
it was only a dream
I am awake now
encased in black ice
wishing I had never slept

Hmmmm . . . I rather like this. It's short, seems simple enough, yet if you read it a second time, it really makes you think . . . especially the bit :

I am awake now
encased in black ice
wishing I had never slept
