In the darkest, blackest night I grow stronger and more fearless The hatred and agony the night brings is A supple comforting caress.
Bloody knuckles, skin peeling back Please use my body while I sleep There is no excuse Since this is the life I keep.
Remove whatever might hurt Buy a toy and a drag queen I am what you always were With a hazy crystal ball no futures can be seen.
Take me up to look down on the world for free Ill slit your throat like a soldier while you sleep I liked it all, but we cross it off It took everything I got.

I can feel the frustration and confusion mounting, leading to the lump in my throat. Beautifully done.

Ouch! I couldn't ignore the title, but the poem is right scary. I'm still wondering what happened over dinner. Sounds nasty. Some good lines though.

The sheer originality of the darkly humorous title simply demanded this poem to be read. This poem just screams emotion, and it puts me in a chair sitting at that table. I can understand this quite well...not only a powerfully written work, but a piece to a jigsaw puzzle (from this perspective, anyway).
Truly,

I think after that kind of dinner I'd just go to the drive through, grab a burger and eat it alone in the parking lot from now on.
Great , and very original, write

Life is sometimes a bitter banquet, but the sweetness of the dessert was in the last line...it took everything I got.
Once again she has met the test......and passed so beautifully.
Great words, thank you for sharing. |
