Bitter Tears

Contributed by emphaticplacebo on Friday, 9th April 2004 @ 12:21:42 PM in AEST
Topic: Suicide

Bitter tears stain my weathered face
Rolling down to replenish my dry lips
The taste of bittersweet deliverance
Present with every salty bead it drips

Tears roll on as I reveal my downfall
My shimmering salvation in all its glory
Carefully crafted with souls of the fallen
My polished blade tells its own sad story

I stroke the blade over my wrist gently
Imagining the release from pain I will feel
Its sharpened blade will deliver me from pain
The torturous pain that is all just too real

I gather all my courage to push the blade in
I can feel the blade score my awaiting flesh
I feel almost immediate release of my demons
I feel my lifeblood, my blade and skin mesh

From my wrist, I feel it trickle down my fingers
Mixing with the droplets of my bittersweet tears
Almost rhythmic, my blood pumps its regret
With every slowing beat of my heart I release my fears

My salvation lingers in the midst, luring me closer
I slowly drift away from the pain I felt for so long
From the cage that has trapped my flailing soul
Away to the serene place where my spirit will belong
