Inside my fuzzy memory Deception tells no lies It is what it is No sympathy for my thighs Too long ignored Now ignoring me Commander Time has taken over Dropping everything by degrees Until I am stooped and bowed Reverent in my posture Filled with wisdom so Im told Yet questions still abound How did I get here? A crone with crows feet Where green eyes once sparkled Bright with inquisitive delight Dulled and now half blind Commander Time keeps pushing me In one direction he marches Without care or consideration For where I might want to be Hindsight is clearly cloudy With memories perfect flaw Recalling in great splendor My accomplishments and charm There was joy in what I saw In front of me, before it was after And then it was gone

Don't know if I should laugh or cry...lol The ravages of time are ruthless.
Very well done

This is how I felt the year I stayed 39. A marvelous write. You capture the universal that so few put into words.

They say when we look back we are more beautiful than we thought at the time. Maybe time isn't a commander but our mirror image of what we perceive to be seen. I dunno...
But even if time is a cruel commander there is one thing he cannot take and that is the person who lights the outer candle. That person will shine even when 90 years old.
