A Lonely Leaf

A Lonely Leaf
Look closely before you step on me,
I am a lonely leaf... I have now broken free
from the branch on which I hung
since spring, when life I had begun.
So bright my hue, and so still I lay,
upon this hard and blackened clay.
My life I cannot again renew,
so I'll share my last days with you.
See the flush upon my drying cheek;
also the green that still shows life, though weak?
Notice that my form is perfect and not torn,
although the edges may be a little worn.
I'll give my all, just to see you smile,
as you gaze upon me...for just a little while.
Then a breeze will carry me to a sheltered spot,
where in time I'll be no more, but hopefully not forgot.
Don't cry for me, I've done my part,
I welcomed spring... from whence I had my start.
But please tread gently around me, as I lay
upon this hard and blackened clay.

Splendid!!! I just love how you describe things from a different perspective. Not only did you do so with utterly beautiful words, but the flow throughout was smooth. Each line seems to intertwine with each simple prose, yet makes us think in so many new ways!

I would be very proud of this write, its incredible!...

How sad and lovely at the same time. All things have a reason in this world and have something to give. There is beauty in everything HE creates so we should always step lightly. Marvelous look at life.
