All Around Iraq

Contributed by Jeff_Scott_Morehead on Wednesday, 14th April 2004 @ 08:17:06 PM in AEST
Topic: AmericanTragedy

All Around Iraq
----------------
Shootings in the streets,
Violence in the air.
Thugs walking around,
Like they havent got a care.

Innocent victims lie in the gutters,
Dead Soldiers on the ground.
All around Iraq,
This is what is found.

Leaders pray for vengeance,
Lead their follows to a life of crime.
Hysteria fills their brains,
Like it did in mid-evil times.

Occupation is whats feared,
But occupation is not our will.
Common sense lacks in their minds,
They only know to kill.

Misguided are their people,
Fear rules their hearts.
They forgot the freedom we gave them,
Like it all is for not.

All my friends in the British army in Iraq say they referred to themselves as conquerers not liberators. There is a a control of media now in Iraq just like under Sadam. The only difference when we invaded Iraq was a change in leadership. Freedom of expression is closer to true democracy. We might be closer but can we really force that upon Arab states that we created then corrupted? Great poetry though, I do respect your view because you articulate it very well.

I gotta agree with the previous poster.

You write about the effects but ignore the real causes.

And I fear many of our leaders here in America don't want it to get better.
