Woven Tapistry

Contributed by sindi-selde on Thursday, 15th April 2004 @ 12:15:17 PM in AEST
Topic: SadPoetry

I weave my lies into a tapistry. I can do that pretty well.

Detail and color and light.

If you pull one loose thread....

Nothing happens. The whole thing doesn't come apart.

I simply -without missing a beat, not one beat- weave it back in and for good measure I add another lie, another thread, another color.

'They don't suspect anything at all'

I use half-truths as my warp and lies as my weft.

Sometimes, sometimes I even tell the truth.

Not often though.

Then I take the tapistry off the loom of my mouth and I wrap it around me.

Then I put a few more on, layers and layers and layers and layers. They meld together into my globe. I wander serenly around, under them, tending them.

I'm even happy, and that's not a lie.

Exept sometimes, when I sob as like to tear my throat asunder.

I'm not always happy then, but sometimes I am.

Sometimes I just want it all out.

Sometimes, I take some tapistries off and show someone 'me'.

If they looked closely, my flesh would be merely thread, the finest thread.

The real me scutters around, never coming to the surface.

There! There's a lie! Did you spot it?

I come to the surface all the time, just not much of 'me'.

I must tend my loom.

I must see the light of the moon.
