The only star I see is thee At day-time. You never seize to shine. Life-giving Though light years outlying.
Someday you shall exhaust. But even after death You shall never seize to shine. For your light reaches me From afar, Even later after you smile.
At day-time I gaze, And never fail To see your face.
So at night still I seek But no longer find your smile So lovely and oh so sweet.
Oh heaven has betrayed me! Where does it hide thee?
Shining on someone elses world I know you are Not mine. No one elses.
But you sense at once I know, The deepest of my sorrow. And so youll make me smile once more By the time you rise tomorrow.

I agree. Original and good. Being pedantic, I'd go ask Mick if he could change 'seize' to 'cease', as (i may be under a wrong impression) you have used this word to mean 'take' or 'grasp' when its context is in cessation, or ending.
Just a thought. Fine poem, regardless.
Good work. |
