Pain can be like a lover
It can tenderly caress you
It may wrap its arms around
And trap you in a lover's embrace
The whisper bitter sweet lies in your ear
It will creep up on you in the night
Curling up next to you as you sleep
To disturb your rest with sorrowful memories
Pain can be like a demon
And totally possess your mind
Overlaying everything you see with sadness
Tinging every thought with darkness
Tainting every act with an unknown hurt
Destroying every good emotion
Until there is nothing left but a bleak void
