There beneath the green canopy Wade the unsuspecting Eve, Plucking cherries from the tree In grassy weed below the knees.
Lurking in the shadows of the thicket Hushed A serpent in the garden lay Curled about a mulbery bush...
Even now the pride of heaven is tall To humble her crown, the time is now or not ever at all.
From the boughs of his parasol He came calling , "Eve", he hissed. Weaving through the grassy tall, Turning hoops like tumbling halos "Eve", still he called.
Now, dig if you will, Eve with her finger still Twisting a lock of hair Pretty brown eyes, and her body bare, Propped against the cherry tree
The serpent whispering in her ear Quietly so as none could overhear Eve, listing, thinking, thinking still...
In the balance, all of creation hung If Eve could only temptation shun Alas, both stood before the cursed tree Poor maiden once blind could now see
The serpent, as cunning as it's deed Beguiled Eve, and all of paradise Bereaved.
