Has sweet surrender been given up
Replaced by something far less sweet
Recanted words of love and devotion
Washed away
Are my eyes unable to clearly see
The love you say you freely give
With strings attached to every word
I love you
Where did time go in such a hurry
Taking the only thing I had of value
So many minutes unaccounted for
Clock is ticking
How do I know love keeps trying
When my unyielding heart weeps
So used to constant sorrow
You touch me
What can I think of your suggestion
Bluntly ridiculous to even think it
Eager to discover where it goes
I am alive

You write with such depth and mystery---a powerful combination. This is another fascinating use of words. I love the line about time going in a hurry. I can feel the confusion and tension of emotions tinged with such sadness.
