Classic Contradictions

Contributed by jason_robert_britt on Thursday, 22nd April 2004 @ 04:46:01 AM in AEST
Topic: Grief

The sun comes up, the sun goes down;
The moon smiles, and then it frowns;
The tides come in, and then wash out;
After harvest will reign the draught.

Hear the calm before the storm?
Such silent screams stillborn to warn;
In the land of milk and honey,
Cities burn as fast as money.

Paranoid schitzophrenic;
Everyone is swimming in it.
Drown like fish out of the bowl,
Drinking smog and liquid coal.

Sad our cultural contradictions,
Birth holy wars and mass affliction.
Forgive your foes and the uncouth,
Or eye for eye and tooth for tooth?

In His moment on the cross,
Life was found, life was lost;
Perfection's fist asked in irony,
"Why has thou forsaken me?"

This poem is pure talent. I was really impressed with it and it is powerful and makes a strong statement. The ending was perfection.

dammit man. why the hell aren't you famous yet? write a book, make a cd, do something, just get it out there. your work needs to be read by more people than this site will probably ever see. if i had the attention span or the time, i'd list all the things about this scrawl that make it amazing, but i don't. so i'll just say that, once again, your talent is obvious and astounding.

You are quite a poet, Jason_robert_britt!
This poem is outstanding! You already have so many comments, but I think I'd like to say that I admire the way your brain works! I've read and commented previously on some of your other poems.

Jason, I've been away from the site awhile. I see that I have commented already, about 3 ? years ago, but, I must say again, I really love the way you write, not always some of the words you use, and I'm not a fan of dark poetry, but this that you do is so powerful. As Cancer commented, you really must do something that will put you out among the reading public. Blessings to you. 'Bizzy'
